Shahrukh Khan Slaps Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt's Party/ SRK Beats Up Shirish Kunder

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan allegedly beat up filmmaker Shirish Kunder at a party hosted by actor Sanjay Dutt on Sunday. Sanjay Dutt's Party Pictures >>

In a telephonic conversation with Headlines Today, the editor-turned-filmmaker's choreographer-cum-director wife Farah Khan confirmed the incident and said three of SRK's bodyguards joined the superstar in thrashing her husband.

"Shirish, my husband, was beaten up by Shah Rukh and his three bodyguards in Sanjay Dutt's party. Shah Rukh asked Shirish why he had tweeted against him... There was no provocation from our side. He had screamed at Shirish telling him that he would destroy me as well," Farah told Headlines Today.

After attending the Filmfare awards, Shah Rukh Khan made his way to Sanjay Dutt's home on Sunday, well past midnight, to attend the Agneepath success party.

Unfortunately, SRK ran into his friends-turned-foes Farah Khan and husband Shirish Kunder at the party.

According to sources, SRK confronted Kunder about his Ra.One jibes on Twitter.

For those wondering, when Ra.One was struggling at the box office after its release, Kunder had tweeted: 'I just heard a 150 Cr firework fizzle.'

A war of words followed, which suddenly turned to blows.

According to some sources, the acrimony between the two men which had been building up over the months reached a flashpoint when Shah Rukh reached Dutt’s party past 3.30 am. A source close to the actor said, “Shirish started to tail Shah Rukh saying, ‘I am waiting…I am waiting.’ He even followed him to the men’s room and deliberately bumped into him. After he came out of the washroom Shah Rukh went up to Shirish, held him by the neck and said, ‘My children were very hurt when you tweeted about the movie. I had promised them I would slap you when I meet you next but I won’t. I am just warning you that don’t mess with me,’ said the source who did not wish to be identified.

Shirish did away with discretion as part of his valour and retorted: I give a f*** about you,’ sending Shah Rukh into paroxysm of rage. Eye witnesses who had by now abandoned their drinks and gathered around, claim that Shah Rukh first pulled Shirish’s hair as he tried to escape, then his tee-shirt, and slapped him then sat astride him as he tried to hit Shirish again, saying, ‘I’ll destroy you, throw you out of the industry aur tere friend ko ja ke bol mein uski maar loonga.’ Aurus owner and another close friend of Salman, Baba Dewan was heard protesting about the slight directed at his absent pal.

Apparently, Baba Diwan, who's Sanjay and Salman's good friend didn't take this comment kindly and tried to reason with SRK. "Seeing Baba Dewan intervene, Sanju too rushed towards them to break up the fight," says our source, adding that soon afterwards, at about 4 am, Shirish walked out, covering his face which had begun to swell as he had been badly hit. Incidentally, neither Shirish's wife Farah nor SRK's wife Gauri attended this party.

Later, Dutt and Sameer Arya (brother-in-law of filmmaker Goldie Behl) escorted SRK out.

When contacted, Shirish said that he didn't even know when SRK walked in. Recollecting being dragged by the hair and pushed on the couch, he said, "Shah Rukh punched and jumped on me. And he had three bodyguards with him. I don't know what got him. I was numb with shock so I couldn't react. He kept screaming at me, 'What do you think of yourself? I'll see to it that you're out of this industry."

Asserting that he didn't know what instigated SRK into attacking him, Shirish stated, "I was totally unprepared for this kind of an attack. If I was standing in some area where I would expect some goondaism, I would have been better prepared. But this is a classy party. Who would expect someone to jump on your from behind?" The director adds that Dutt and Baba intervened to stop SRK's attack. "I walked out of the party after that. He is taking out his personal frustrations on anyone he comes across."

Angry and upset at the turn of events Shirish isn't taking this lightly. He thunders, "Next time, I challenge him (SRK) to come in front of me to fight. I will give it right back to him. Someone please ask him to stop behaving like an old, spineless faggot. He kept telling me go back to your friend (Salman) and tell him main uski ***** marunga. If he has some problem with that friend of mine, why doesn't he have the guts to confront him?"

Another senior producer pointed that both SRK and Shirish were to be blamed for it. "Shirish had taken digs at RA.One on Twitter, which haven't gone down well with the actor-producer. As for SRK, he has taken potshots at other industry people. So when someone aims jibes at him, he should be just as sporting as he expects others to be," he said not before concluding that this will further spoil things not only between SRK and Farah, but also between SRK and Salman. Now it remains to be seen how Salman reacts to this fight and SRK's message to him through Shirish.

It is learnt that earlier at a party thrown by Ritesh Deshmukh, Shah Rukh instigated Shirish into an argument. But luckily it didn't end up in physical fight.

While SRK still is in denial, Kunder said he has no plans of filing an FIR against him.

Don 2 Box Office Report/Review

Friday-Dec 23-2011: Don 2 took an excellent opening this morning in its early couple of shows at multiplexes of around 75-80%.

There were places like Ahmedabad and Noida which opened to 100% collections but there were places like Nagpur and Jodhpur which were around than 70%. On the whole the all India average at multiplexes this morning was around 80-85%. Delhi city opened to around 80% while Ra.One was 100%.

The opening of the film is not as strong as Ra.One but that film had Diwali Puja to contend with and collections fell from 1 pm onwards so despite a lower opening it is possible that Don 2 could see first day collections in the range of the first day of Ra.One.

Don 2 has been released on 3000 screens approx across India.

Don 2 Has Good Advance but Not Comparable to Bodyguard and Ra.One

Don 2 has had a good advance though it is not comparable to Bodyguard and Ra.One which had sold much more tickets in advance. If we compare with Ready then it is better at multiplexes than that film but not single screens. The film will put up big numbers at multiplexes across the country.

The single screen advance is lower, normally the good single screens in Delhi like Liberty and Vishaal are close to being booked out for day one by the big event films but here just 40-50% tickets are gone. These theatres are advance theatres and take the best advance bookings in the country.

In the metros the film is being helped by the 3D version which has strong bookings but at many other places pricing is playing spoil sport where more bookings are coming in for the cheaper tickets rather than the 3D ones which are priced 70-80% more than 2D at places especially in the morning shows. As there is a Tamil and Telugu version for the film, it will be the second biggest release of 2011 after Ra.One hitting 3000 plus screens.

Ra.One First Day Box Office Report/Collections Review

No First Day Box office Record For Ra.One. Ra 1 makes approx 14.63 crore at the box office on Day 1 of release

Ra.One will not set a new first day record as the final day 1 collections coming in are well off record pace especially in North and Central India. Some circuits are 50% short of Bodyguard while others are similar.

Ra.One has collected around 14-15 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. The collections are only for its Hindi version and regional version may have added around 1 crore nett.

It may turn out to be the second or third highest first day ever but around 30% less than the record of Bodyguard which released 2 months back comparing like and like and just its Hindi version.

South India has fared best comparatively while in North India the first day collections are lower than Ready and Yamla Pagla Deewana as well as Bodyguard for the films released in 2011.

Diwali puja could have contributed to the lower collections however, given the hype around Ra.One, the extensive promotional campaign and the raised ticket prices, the opening day collections of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer were not up to the mark.

Ra.One (Hindi) collected 14.50-14.75 core nett approx on its first day at the box office. Mysore circuit was a first day record. Below is the first day territorial breakdown of Ra.One.

Ra.One Movie Review, Ra 1 Review

I've often heard people say, film-making is nothing short of a gamble. And as any gambler will tell you, you've got to gamble huge to triumph huge. Going by this logic, Shah Rukh Khan is The Supreme Gambler of the year.

What's at stake, beside the big money invested in RA.ONE of course, is a dream, a vision, an aspiration to make a film which appeals to kids and kids at heart. In short, attempt a film that appeals to the universal audience. At the same time, it ought to raise the bar for Hindi films. Also at stake is SRK's once-unchallenged supremacy as the reigning idol of Bollywood and that elusive thing called reputation. When you invest your repute in your dream project and stick your neck out, you expect nothing short of a mega-success.

Movies like KRRISH and ROBOT initiated the trend of superhero films in India, with fantasy making deep inroads into mainstream Hindi cinema. Now RA.ONE raises the bar, takes not a step or two, but a giant leap and adheres to international standards, in terms of execution. But the soul, I wish to add, is very desi. That's precisely the reason why RA.ONE emerges trumps. RA.ONE is beauty [read good looking film] with brains [read content].

What characterizes a stunning superhero movie? I have narrowed it down to three precise constituents that I deem are absolutely necessary for an alluring superhero flick. The first is that the motion picture must encompass spectacular action and edge-of-the-seat thrills. Secondly, a magnificent superhero movie must also boast of luminous performances from the protagonists, which in turn should make these characters appear credible and relatable. Thirdly and most importantly, superhero films must have a narrative that keeps us yearning for more. All of these are indispensable factors in making a superhero movie that will be both acclaimed and adored by fans. Fortunately, RA.ONE emerges triumphant in all the three departments.

RA.ONE is the most ambitious, most expensive and the most technologically complex Hindi film ever made. It pushes the envelope further. It's not merely a film, but an experience, an event. It's a film that will rewrite the textbook of computer graphics in Hindi cinema. At the same time, it is very Indian at heart. The relationship between SRK and the kid is the highpoint of the enterprise. But, at the same time, there are ample clap-trap moments that will send the viewers in frenzy. The chase sequence, when Ra.One finally zeroes on Lucifer, and the subsequent 'entry' of the superhero is awe-inspiring. The train sequence in the second hour is exceptional and a cinematic feat. The presence of Rajnikanth in a crucial sequence will be greeted with deafening claps and whistles. And, of course, the climax of the film; it's simply jaw-dropping.

Besides these factors, the 'Chammak Chhallo' number is already a rage and so are the sequences involving visual effects. In a nutshell, it's an entertainer that works big time. You haven't experienced something like this ever before, on the Hindi screen!

A father tries hard to fit into his son's world. While Shekhar [Shah Rukh Khan] tries every trick in the book to woo his son, his son had given up on him. Just when the father-son duo hit a deadlock, Shekhar strikes gold when he designs one hell of a game. Finally, it all starts falling in place. But the happiness is short-lived. All hell breaks loose when the game that was meant to be played with, starts playing them.

We are spoilt by cinema's ability to create on celluloid anything that can be imagined, therefore we have raconteurs making endeavors to bestow us with movies that you wouldn't have ever envisioned even in your mind's eye. You realize this as you watch RA.ONE, which is a visual spectacle from start to end.

Director Anubhav Sinha along with co-writers David Benullo, Kanika Dhillon and Mushtaq Shiekh may be inspired by international flicks as far as the concept is concerned, but they ensure that they serve the right masala to moviegoers in those 2.30 hours. What actually takes you by complete surprise is not just the money spent on visual effects or the stunning chase and action scenes, but the twists and turns in the screenplay that unravel at a feverish pace.

Besides, the moviegoers have certain expectations and notions about superhero flicks and they expect such characters to perform audacious aerobatics to save someone's life or a nation. But this one's different. Visually arresting and dramatically just what the doctor ordered, the film boasts of relatable characters, which makes this superhero movie for kids as well as grown-ups. In fact, I'd like to add, RA.ONE is not only skillfully directed, but also visually dynamic and entertains from commencement to conclusion.

The album of the film lives up to the grand expectations. Vishal-Shekhar deliver a striking score with 'Chammak Chhallo', 'Dildaara' and 'Raftarein' being the pick of the lot. The background score, also recorded by them, is equally electrifying. V. Manikandan and Nicola Pecorini's cinematography is top notch. Same goes for the stunts and chases [Andy Gill and Spiro Razatos]. Dialogue [Kanika Dhillon and Niranjan Iyengar] are hardly ever commonplace. What I found most interesting is that, whether humorous or thoughtful, the channel of communication appears very credible. The Ra.One and G.One suits, designed by Robert Kurtzman, are super.

RA.ONE is a perfect vehicle that does justice to the talent of Shah Rukh Khan. He seems to have found a story and character that work in perfect sync and tandem with manic energy. SRK steers this physically challenging lead role with high-spirited self-belief. He's endearing as the father and magnificent as the superhero with a heart. Kareena Kapoor is a delight to watch. She effortlessly glides into the character. Besides, she looks ethereal in the 'Chammak Chhallo' song and her wit is infectious. Arjun Rampal pulls his act with effortlessness and style. Also, Arjun's well-designed look is admirable.

I'd like to make a special mention of Armaan Verma, the kid who has a pivotal part to portray. He stands shoulder to shoulder with SRK and Kareena all through the film and delivers a super-confident performance. The film has a number of actors in key roles [Shahana Goswami, Dalip Tahil, Satish Shah, Suresh Menon, Mushtaq Shiekh and Tom Wu] and each of them fit well in their respective parts. Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra add to the glam quotient, while Rajnikanth proves yet again that he's a scene stealer.

But the man who warrants the actual round of applause is director Anubhav Sinha himself. For bringing out the best of SRK, Kareena and Arjun. For the amazing screenplay. For the speedy yet smooth stream of the narrative. And for the fantastic unfolding of the written material. He merits top admiration for every act of his.

On the whole, RA.ONE is a solid entertainer, no two opinions on that. It's not merely a great looking film, but also has soul, which is so essential to strike a chord with the avid moviegoer. As for the business prospects, RA.ONE is sure to shatter all previous records and set new ones, in India as well as internationally. The film will be the new yardstick for measuring success. It has Blockbuster written all over it!

First Look Pictures of Shahrukh Khan in DON 2

The long hands of the law have finally caught up and landed the most wanted man in prison. Here’s a first look at Shah Rukh Khan in the Malaysia schedule of Don 2.

Shahrukh Khan has been currently filming for the sequel of DON in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi. Here’s looking at the Don in a Malaysian jail

First Look of Shahrukh Khan in DON 2

Says a unit source, “ The sequences being filmed have the cops tail him and arrest the Don. This has left his folks bewildered as they firmly believed in his dictum: “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumkim hai.” Ace up his sleeve? Adds the source, “Obviously, there is an ace up his sleeve because the Don has already masterminded a prison break.” SRK who shot with several local Malaysian artistes had to indulge in a lot of physically taxing sequences. He had to take on the inmates of the jail – those who dared to question how he landed up behind the high walls.
