Trivia: Madhur Bhandarker had approached Kareena Kapoor for his movie. Bhandarkar stated that Kareena had been his first choice for his previous movies Page 3 and Fashion as well. Kareena later opted out of the movie without giving any official reason. Madhur later officially declared that the film was shelved as Kareena Kapoor had decided not to do the movie. The co-producers of the film, UTV Motion Pictures, then approached Aishwarya to be a part of the film. Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, started approaching Aishwarya for various script hearings. Finally, after many discussions between the producers, Madhur and Aishwarya, it was announced both by the director and the actor separately that they are going to work on Heroine.

The film was shelved after 10 days of shooting with Aishwarya Rai due to the sudden announcement of her pregnancy. Aishwarya was 4 months pregnant then. Now, Kareena Kapoor - who was Madhur Bhandarkar's original choice for Heroine has been signed on as the leading actress.

Madhur Bhandarkar Blogs About The Start of Heroine Shooting

Madhur Bhandarkar Starts Shooting for his next film Heroine today (26th Nov 2011). The film stars Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda. An excited Madhur blogged about it and called his blog post - "Heroine Diaries… (Part 1)" indicating that its the first of many more in the "Heroine Diaries" series. Heres what he wrote at the start of the first days shoot...

Heroine Diaries… (Part 1)

Today I start shooting for my next project, Heroine. Am I excited, nervous or ecstatic? Actually, I am very calm because movie making is one thing that comes very naturally to me. I am happy for sure, as always, to be on the next project and work after months of brainstorming. But my day has begun with a silent prayer for the victims of 26/11.

Heroine is a very contemporary subject of today’s time. It has different premises and different strata that I am going to deal with here. This movie, like all my other movies, is a mix of facts and fiction.

I like to be organized when it comes to work and that is why I am quite relaxed right now. I haven’t left anything to be altered for the last minute. And I am working with some of the best cast and crew of the industry, so it makes me more relaxed.

What I could say is different about Heroine as compared to all my other movies is that it is a bigger movie. It has a larger span, more characters, more costumes… a journey that revolves around an actress’ life and showbiz.

I am glad to be working with Mahesh Limaye, who was my Director of Photography (DoP) in Corporate, Traffic Signal and Fashion. He is going to be filming me with again. After Fashion I am again working with Music Directors Salim-Sulaiman on this project. We have already recorded two songs and they have been finalized. Can’t wait for you all to hear it, but of course there is time in that!

UTV Motion Pictures and Bhandarkar Entertainment have joined hands again and I am glad we are working together on this movie. I have always had great experiences working with Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor and looking forward to the same in this movie.

As you all know that the fabulous Kareena Kapoor (Bebo) is playing the role of the main protagonist in this movie. Both of us had wanted to work with each other for a while now. Finally we are and I am sure we are going to have a blast during the shoot.

Arjun Rampal, who has been a very dear friend, is playing the lead in this movie. Looking forward to working with Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami. This is the first time I will be working with all the actors and I am excited.

This year I completed a decade of being a part of this industry. The journey from Chandni Bar to Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji was so beautiful. This year began for me with the release of my successful slice of life movie Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji and is ending with my next movie, Heroine going on floor, what more can I say. And in all this, you all have been a very essential part of my life. Thanks for all your support and blessings. I couldn’t have come so far without you all.

Ok then, I’ll have to sign off now because it is time again to say START SOUND, CAMERA… AND ACTION!
